All work and no play make Jack a dull boy—which is why the office costume party was invented. You may be the boss’ right hand man, but no matter how seriously you take your job, even you like to escape who you are once a year into the world of the Green Hornet, Iron Man, or Bob the Builder.
Much like our children sit in class not paying attention to the teacher because they’re considering what they want to be for Halloween, we too find ourselves in our offices wondering what we should be when the office costume party is near at hand. Sometimes we have in mind something right from the start and it is simply a problem of gathering the right materials or finding a place that sells scaly leotards and white contact lenses. In other cases our imaginations may be stuck in the project on our desks and we need a little help coming up with something creative. In either case you are generally helped by looking online.
The first place you should search is a place that sells costumes for Halloween. There are plenty of options out there and plenty of ideas that will set you apart among your co-workers. Many shops sell more than just costumes. They may also have accessories that will also make you stand out—say, a severed head or some extra fingers.
Whatever you decide on, remember this is time to escape and be someone (something?) else and have a good time.
